A Study on the Domestic Violence among Families of Dehgolan City; With Emphasis on Violence against Women

Abstract:

While a lot of Psychologists, Sociologists and Criminologists, have profound anxiety with regard to growth of harshness in streets and public places, the probability of ones get into attack in family is more than it. Violence against women is a kind of violent behavior related to sexuality that leads to hurt or perhaps ensue to physical, sexually and psychological damages. The aim of this research is to study the domestic violence particularly violence against women among families of Dehgolan city(western of Iran). Research independent variables (social and familial factors) were deduced from social learning and social sources theories. According to Cochran sampling frame and multi-stage cluster sampling method were chosen about 245 of families and with questionnaire implement was collected intended information among couples. In general information derived from 200 questionnaires was analyzable and this task was performed with SPSS software and with used of advanced statistics like Multiple Regression. Analysis of data was indicating to confirmation of research's hypothesis with high degree of confidence. To detect of importance of independent variables for estimating dependent variable, multiple regression analysis reveals that variables including women's economic dependence, experience and observing violence by husbands in childhood, and weakness of social protections from women in society and family, explain 62 percent of variance violence against women. In addition, with regard to Standardized Beta, the variable of weakness of social protections and familial supports from women has had the most roles in explaining variance of dependent variable.
